Talking to someone, even in a small way, can really help. It can remind us that we’re not alone and that support is there when we need it.
That’s why Time to Talk Day is important. It’s a gentle reminder that it’s okay to talk about how you’re feeling, and that help and understanding are always available.
Why talking matters
Just like we all look after our physical health, it’s equally important look after our mental health. Talking openly can make a huge difference, whether you’re sharing your own experience or listening to others.
Having conversations about mental health can help us:
-
Feel more connected to others
-
Learn about support available
-
Reduce the stigma around mental health struggles
Sometimes, knowing that someone is willing to listen can be the first step.
Real support when it’s needed
Our Better Days service is here to support you with your wellbeing, finances, and everyday challenges. It offers access to expert support, resources, and safe spaces to talk – all designed to help you feel more confident and secure.
Harry, an Orbit customer, knows first-hand how valuable this support can be.
“When my mental health dipped, Better Days arranged mindfulness sessions and linked me with Citizens Advice. There’s no judgement, just kind people who listen.”
Through Better Days, Harry was able to access practical help alongside emotional support, giving her the tools she needed to manage bills, understand her tenancy, and navigate benefits. Having the right support at the right time helped her rebuild confidence and independence.
Support doesn’t always come from services alone. For Harry, companionship has also played a huge role in her mental wellbeing. Her therapy dog, Theo, has been a constant source of comfort.
Reflecting on her journey, Harry encourages others to reach out for support:
“My advice is to take advantage of the advice and support services, especially Better Days. They really do make things easier.”
